VIETNAM — I have a reputation for being a horrible backseat driver. In my defense, some people are really terrifying drivers, and I only offer my opinion on their driving when I am scared for my life.
Of course, in their eyes, I'm usually overreacting and we were "totally safe" even though they didn't see the red light as we were getting off the freeway off-ramp. It's fine; I'm working on keeping my opinions to myself when I'm not the one at the wheel. But suffice it to say, I would not be able to stay quiet if I were in the situation of this driver.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
The video shows a point-of-view shot of what it feels like to weave in and out of the hectic, busy roads in Hanoi, Vietnam. On a scooter, no less. Imagine my anxiety watching this guy squeeze his tiny vehicle between a semitruck, six other scooters and a few taxis.
The video is titled "It's less scarier than it look," which means whoever filmed it is probably used to driving this way and doesn't think it's a big deal. That's comforting, I guess. But I'm sure I'd still be yelling if I were in his position.
