SARATOGA SPRINGS — The west side of Saratoga Springs will lose power after a man crashed into a power box Monday morning, police said.

Saratoga Springs police responded to an accident on 400 N. Redwood Road at 8:32 a.m. after a single vehicle crashed into an “important power box,” according to Saratoga Springs Police Sgt. Shane Taylor.

The police arrested the driver in connection with driving under the influence and possession of meth and other drugs, Taylor said.

The man sustained no injuries in the accident, but his car is still partially on top of the box and Rocky Mountain Power will need to turn off the power so the towing company can safely remove the vehicle, Taylor said.

Turning off the power box will simultaneously turn off the power for about half of Saratoga Springs on the west side of the city, but Taylor said the outage will hopefully not last long as the towing company removes the vehicle.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
