SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police have arrested the second man in a fatal shooting that took place Tuesday morning.

Salt Lake City police said Romeo Alyss Alvarez, 18, and Anthony Glen Taylor, 18, fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving the victim, who was later identified as 19-year-old Sebastian Salgado. Salgado was found dead in a parked car when police arrived at 300 E. Browning Ave. around 11:20 a.m.

Taylor turned himself in to police without incident Wednesday, Salt Lake police said. He is facing homicide charges.

Alvarez was arrested Tuesday night when police identified him after he left his wallet behind in the car.

According to police, the two men met up with Salgado and his girlfriend outside of Salt Lake City to purchase an item being sold online. Alvarez and Taylor said they needed to get money from a location in Salt Lake and Salgado allowed them to ride in his car with him and his girlfriend.

Police said that, during the drive, Alvarez and Taylor attempted to rob Salgado and a struggle ensued over a handgun that one of the men produced. During the struggle, Salgado was shot in the head and Alvarez and Taylor fled the scene on foot, police said.

A search of Utah state court records shows only two cases against Salgado, both filed earlier this year, involving misdemeanor drug, alcohol and traffic charges.
