SALT LAKE CITY — Downtown visitors got another round of packed streets Saturday night as several major venues were busy simultaneously for the second time in three days.
The Utah Jazz hosted to the Sacramento Kings, and major performances were ongoing at other large venues, including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert at the LDS Conference Center and a production of "White Christmas" at the Eccles Theatre.
The Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular was on tap at Abravanel Hall, and the Capitol Theatre hosted another performance of Ballet West's "The Nutcracker." The Christmas lights at Temple Square also drew large crowds, as did ramped-up holiday shopping.
The Utah Department of Transportation went so far as to ask drivers to "plan ahead for heavy holiday traffic." The agency advised motorists to arrive downtown before 6:15 p.m., when traffic was expected to peak until about 7:30 p.m.
The night ended up being comparable to Thursday, when many of the same Christmas performances were also running and the Jazz played the NBA-leading Golden State Warriors.
