KAYSVILLE — The Davis girls soccer team topped the USA Today national rankings a year ago with its second straight Class 5A state title and an undefeated season.
Where would they go after winning a third straight title and another unbeaten run after a 2-1 win over Fremont in last month’s state championship match?
Anywhere but down.
The Darts, who finished 20-0, once again topped the USA Today/NSCAA Super 25 girls soccer fall rankings this fall with its state-record win streak of 44 matches, the news outlet announced Tuesday.
Davis was led by Olivia Wade, who had 42 goals, and Mikayla Colohan, the Deseret News’ Ms. Soccer who tallied 28 goals and 35 assists. The junior-senior tandem are both committed to BYU, and helped lead a talented Davis corp that lost six Division I players from the 2014 title-winning team.
Glastonbury High from Connecticut finished No. 2 nationally, followed by Penn High (Mishawaka, Indiana), Spencerport High (Spencerport, New York) and Hunterdon Central Regional (Flemington, New Jersey). The Darts are the only team West of the Rocky Mountains ranked in the Top 10.
