221B BAKER STREET — The popular BBC series "Sherlock" has captivated audiences around the world with its smart writing, clever twists, witty humor and spot on performances from leads Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

The popularity of the show launched both actors, especially Cumberbatch, into the realm of super stardom, and that caused scheduling conflicts with making "Sherlock."

Unlike American TV shows, British shows don't always run on a yearly basis for each new season. Often, shows will take a hiatus as actors take leave to do films or other projects. This is why "Sherlock" initially premiered all the way back in 2010 and only the fourth season is premiering in 2017.

While it's hard to go these long spans between this amazing show, it also feels like Christmas Day when we get news of a new season.

"Sherlock" season 4 was announced sometime ago, and a teaser trailer was released in July, but now we have a new trailer to whet our appetite as we wait for 2017 to roll around so we can watch Sherlock and Watson once again. Well, that's not entirely true considering the trailer is the exact same one as what we got back in July, but with one very crucial difference.

In July, the trailer ended with a title card reading, "Coming 2017." This "new" trailer now has a specific date of when we get to see the detective back on our screens: Jan. 1, 2017.

That's right, no need to wait until later in the year or even later in the month of January, BBC One has announced through the trailer that "Sherlock" is back on Jan. 1.
