TV LAND — Halloween movies get a lot of attention, and are often seen as the makers of the holiday itself. Witches, goblins and ghouls abound in feature-length, fright-filled options.
But the silver screen has plenty of great offerings to celebrate Halloween right alongside the characters you see week-to-week. Here are 13 TV episodes ranging from spooky to sweet to super scary:
“Boy Meets World” — And Then There Was Shawn
A legitimately scary hour of the usually saccharine show. Jennifer Love Hewitt guest stars as Cory’s friends are killed one by one.
“Pretty Little Liars” — This Is A Dark Ride
A memorable episode not just because it’s set on a train or because Adam Lambert guest stars. This hour features Aria stuck in a box with a corpse.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” — Halloween
This absurd episode finds the Scoobies becoming the thing they’ve dressed up as for Halloween, which for Willow means she’s an actual ghost.
“Parks and Recreation” — Greg Pikitus
Halloween vandalism nearly derails the Parks department’s Halloween celebrations, but Leslie knows who is behind it.
“Parks and Recreation” — Halloween Surprise
Another Pawnee offering, with Ron taking his girlfriend’s kids trick-or-treating and Leslie and Ann accidentally causing Jerry to have a “fart” attack.
“Community” — Epidemiology
===================================================================================
A Halloween party at Greendale turns deadly when a zombie outbreak threatens to spread through the student body.
“Freaks and Geeks” — Tricks and Treats
If you’re not a Halloween fan, you’ll identify with this sad episode. Mrs. Weir isn’t allowed to make cookies for the neighborhood and the Geeks get egged.
“Supernatural” — It’s The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester
Really any episode of “Supernatural” would qualify as a Halloween episode, but this one happens to actually fall on the haunted holiday.
“The Vampire Diaries” — Haunted
In this episode, someone actually gets turned into a vampire. No sparkles, vegetarians or creepy babies required.
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” — Halloween (Parts 1-3)
If there’s a show that has figured out how to do Halloween right, it’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Their yearly Halloween Heist is always hilarious and cleverly costumed.
“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” — A Halloween Story
A wacky episode where Sabrina makes a clone of herself to send to boyfriend Harvey’s Halloween party.
“Glee” — The Rocky Horror Glee Show
A watered down, slightly safer version of the musical, with a few twists and John Stamos as a singing guest star.
“Home Improvement” — Haunting of Taylor House
Tim creates a haunted house in the basement and determines that pumpkin carving needs some additional horsepower.
