SALT LAKE CITY — On All Hallow’s Eve, bags of M&M's, 3 Musketeers, Snickers and the like will be dispersed into the trick-or-treat bags of eager children.

Not only do some people have a favorite Halloween candy, each state has a most-preferred treat to score on the holiday, according to Influenster.

After surveying more than 40,000 people, Influenster concluded the favorite Halloween candy of each state in 2016. Although the highest number of states chose Candy corn as its favorite Halloween candy, Utah went for a tart choice: Nerds.

“The candy that pulled the highest total number of votes turned out to be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup,” Influenster reported. “It was one of only three candies (the other two were Kit Kat and Butterfinger) to be voted top treats by every single state in the U.S.”

In 2013, KSL Newsradio’s Nightside Project conducted a March Madness-style candy bracket to determine the best Halloween candy. KSL.com published a poll for the Candy Final Four — featuring Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Twix and Skittles — and one for the Candy Championship. Reese’s and Twix competed in the championship, but Reese’s was the ultimate winner.

In total, over 3,400 KSL.com readers participated in the Candy Championship poll. More than 2,000 readers ranked Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups the best Halloween candy, while about 1,300 voted for Twix.
