OREM — A 6-foot tall animatronic gorilla was stolen off the porch of Geneva Tool Repair in Orem.

Craig Moore, manager of Geneva Tool Repair at 11 N. 1330 West, said he has had the gorilla for over a decade and has used it as the company’s mascot.

Moore described the gorilla, which is actually an animatronic clown with a gorilla suit on, as standing 6 feet tall, wearing a yellow hard hat and a yellow safety vest.

He said he first noticed the gorilla was gone when a coworker came into the shop inquiring where the gorilla was. When they looked outside, it was gone.

“I wasn’t really angry when it got stolen, it’s just been a part of my life so long that I felt kind of heartbroken,” Moore said.

Moore has video surveillance footage of an individual taking the gorilla sometime last week in the middle of the day, carrying it under one arm and running away.

The gorilla is worth an estimated $500, Moore said, and was made in 1967.

“I just want to find out what happened to him or why,” he said.

Any sightings of this gorilla should be reported to the Orem Police Department, who is currently investigating the case. Contact the police department by phone at 801-229-7070.
