SALT LAKE CITY — Fireworks under the stars are enjoyed by Utahns more than most Americans during the month of July. The nation's Independence Day and Pioneer Day let Utah residents double dip with fireworks fun.

Various cities are reminding residents of restrictions when enjoying fireworks and where they're not allowed to light them.

Utah state law allows for fireworks to be lit the day of as well as three days before and three days after the two July holidays.

Alpine

No fireworks will be allowed in Alpine City parks. New fireworks restrictions are outlined on the Alpine City website.

Bountiful

Fireworks are prohibited at all times:

  • within the limits of the City of Bountiful east of Bountiful Boulevard, north of 400 North and east of 900 East
  • north of 1400 North Street, east of 650 East Street
  • north of 400 North Street, 900 East Street
  • south of 400 North Street, east of Davis Boulevard

Brigham City

Fireworks are restricted from:

  • 1500 North to the south of the Brigham City boundary
  • east of residential property on Highland Boulevard, 675 North, Aspen Drive, Carolyn Place, Orchard Place, Oak Place, Bott Avenue, Sycamore Circle, Sheri Circle, 1300 East, Bywater Way and Kaylynne Circle
  • area east of a line running due south from Highland Boulevard to Highway 89/91
  • area east of Highway 89/91 from the mouth of the canyon to Michelle Drive
  • area east of residential property on Michelle Drive
  • Brigham City Airport and surrounding areas
  • annexed areas of the Bear River Bird Refuge

Bryce Canyon City

Discharging or using any kind of private fireworks are prohibited.

Centerville

Fireworks are prohibited east of 400 East and Main Street between Chase Lane and the city limits.

Cottonwood Heights

Fireworks are restricted in or near the designated wildland-urban interface, which is defined by the city as "ravines, gullies, hillsides, vacant land or mountainous areas where natural vegetation exists such that a distinct fire hazard is clearly evident to a reasonable person."

Draper

Fireworks are prohibited in all Draper City parks. Chinese lanterns, also known as Khoom Fay, are prohibited in any part of Draper.

Eagle Mountain

Fireworks are prohibited in any home or road adjacent to the bike park, Lake Mountain Road, Cedar Pass Ranch, North Ranch, Ruby Valley, Lone Tree, Kiowa Valley, Eagle Top, Point Lookout, Hidden Canyon, Fremont Springs, Meadow Ranch, Valley View and White Hills.

Residents are encouraged to use designated fireworks locations in the asphalt parking area above the Silverlake Amphitheater and the asphalt parking area at Pony Express Park.

Enoch

Fireworks are prohibited everywhere throughout the city except the parking lots at the Enoch City Office (900 E. Midvalley Road) and Enoch Elementary School (Tomahawk Drive west lot).

Farmington

Fireworks are prohibited within 20 feet of combustible weeds, grasses, trees, shrubs, fences or structures, and Farmington City parks.

Discharging fireworks or other pyrotechnic devices is also prohibited east of the red line on the map below.

Fruit Heights

There are fireworks restrictions along the east bench.

Highland

Fireworks prohibited areas include Bull River, Hidden Oaks, Hunter Ridge, Highland Hills, Beacon Hills, Dry Creek Highlands, Westfield Cove, Sunset Mountain Properties, Chamberry Fields, Mercer Hollow, View Pointe, Country French Estates, and Highland Glen Park.

Holladay

Aerial fireworks that go more than 8 feet off the ground are not allowed anywhere within the city.

All fireworks are banned in Spring Creek, Neff's Creek, Cottonwood Area, Big Cottonwood Creek and Creekside Park, Olympus Hills Park, and all areas of I-215 including the freeway right-of-way.

Layton

All fireworks are banned east of U.S. Highway 89. Aerial fireworks are also banned in the following areas:

  • east of 2000 East from the south city limits to Cherry Lane
  • east of Fairfield Road north of Cherry Lane to Church Street
  • east of Church Street from Fairfield Road to Highway 193
  • north of Highway 193 on both sides of Church Street
  • east of 2400 East from Highway 193 to the north city limits
  • north of 3450 North to the city limits, east of 2000 East

Lehi

Fireworks are prohibited north of state Route 92 and along the Dry Creek corridor from 1200 East to Center Street.

Moab

Fireworks are prohibited within 150 feet of Mill Creek and Pack Creek.

North Salt Lake

Ogden

Fireworks are prohibited in all areas of the city east of Harrison Boulevard.

Orem

Fireworks are prohibited east of Carterville Road and Palisades Drive between the south city limits and 800 North. They are also prohibited east of 800 East to the city limits.

Park City

All aerial and Class C fireworks are prohibited.

Pleasant Grove

Fireworks are prohibited on the easternmost areas of the city.

Provo

Fireworks are prohibited in the foothills on the east bench: east of Timpview Drive, east of 900 East between Birch Lane and Timpview Drive, east of Birch Lane, east of Seven Peaks Boulevard, east of State Street between 900 South and the south city limits, and anywhere on the Brigham Young University campus.

Riverdale

Fireworks are prohibited along the Weber River and near every home adjacent to the river. Fireworks are also prohibited south and west of Ritter Drive, 1200 West, 1150 West and South Weber Drive.

Roy

Aerial fireworks are prohibited in:

  • the Denver and Rio Grande Trail (Roy segment)
  • Bamberger Tracks
  • Layton Canal and Weber Basin Water, including the reservoir
  • Property at 4800 S. Midland Drive to approximately 5000 S. Midland Drive East to 3500 West from 4800 South to 5000 South
  • Property owned by the Ogden City Airport
  • Riverdale Road, North to 4400 South, along 1750 West, Airport Road and 1600 West

Salem

Fireworks are prohibited in the following areas:

  • South of the Highline Canal
  • East of Woodland Hills Drive
  • North of 400 North and west of Main Street, except in developed subdivisions
  • Within 20 feet of any building
  • Within 200 feet of any open field, unimproved lot with dry vegetation or any vacant building with dry vegetation on the lot
  • Within 200 feet of any haystack, straw or other flammable agricultural product.

Salina

All aerial fireworks are banned within the city limits.

Salt Lake City

  • Areas east of Foothill Drive
  • Areas east of 1300 East to 500 South, including the University of Utah campus
  • All areas north of South Temple to State Street and North Temple to 200 West
  • City Creek Canyon
  • East of 200 West and Wall Street to 300 West
  • East of 300 West between Wall Street and Beck Street to the north city limits
  • All city parks and wild land urban interface areas
  • All areas west of I-215

Salt Lake County

Sandy

Fireworks are prohibited at all city parks, and all areas east of 2000 East, 2125 East, Altavilla Drive, 2700 East and Quail Hollow Drive.

Saratoga Springs

Fireworks are prohibited within 200 feet of any undeveloped land, urban interface area or agricultural areas and within 150 feet of an undeveloped lot or property in a residential neighborhood or area.

South Jordan

Fireworks are prohibited within the natural vegetation border of the Bingham Creek and Jordan Parkway trail systems except in picnic areas and within 25 feet of undeveloped land containing dry vegetation.

South Weber

Aerial fireworks are prohibited south of South Weber Drive between the north city limits and 925 East, and south of Lester Drive, 7500 South, 7800 South, Deer Run Drive and 8300 South.

Spanish Fork

Fireworks are prohibited:

  • in all industrial zones
  • south of the Spanish Fork River between the Spanish Oaks Golf Course and the east city limits
  • within 200 feet of any open field and unimproved or vacant lot with dry vegetation

Springville

Fireworks are restricted starting at Main Street at 1400 North up through Millpond Drive, east on 400 North and winding its way over to 1300 East and up Canyon Road, including both sides of Canyon Road from 2450 East to the city limits.

St. George

Fireworks are prohibited within 250 feet of:

  • dry washes and drainages
  • river and stream corridors
  • hillsides, plateaus and mesa tops
  • undeveloped open space or natural terrain

Summit County

All class C fireworks are banned, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial fireworks and whistlers.

Taylorsville

Fireworks are prohibited at public schools, parks, empty lots, and along I-215.

Tooele County

Fireworks, tracer ammunition or any other form of pyrotechnic devices including explosive targets are prohibited in Stansbury Park, Erda, Pine Canyon, Lake Pake and all other unincorporated areas of the county.

Vernal

All aerial fireworks are prohibited in Vernal City Park.

Washington City

Fireworks are prohibited east of Washington Fields Road between the south city limits and Telegraph Street, and all areas north of I-15.

Washington Terrace

Fireworks prohibited south of Ridgeline Drive and west of 500 West including Riverdale residents.

Weber County

Fireworks are restricted in:

  • All areas east of U.S. 89 from the Weber and Davis County line to Harrison Boulevard
  • All areas east of Harrison Boulevard between 5400 South and Mountain Road
  • Area north of 3300 North
  • Area north of the Brigham Canal

West Jordan

Fireworks are prohibited in the following areas:

  • west of U-111 (Bacchus Highway) within West Jordan City limits
  • within 200 feet of the Jordan River Parkway Trail east of 1300 West
  • within 200 feet of the area commonly referred to as Clay Hollow Wash that runs east and west in the area of 7800 South (approximately 4800 West to U-111)
  • 200 feet of Bingham Creek, located near Old Bingham Highway running the length of the east/west boundaries
  • city parks, unless a permit has been obtained for a professional display

West Valley City

Fireworks are not to be discharged:

  • within 100 feet of temporary stands, LPG flammable liquid, or gas storage and dispensing units
  • within 20 feet of any residence, dwelling or other structure
  • any area west of SR-111
  • any property owned by West Valley City
  • within 100 feet of the Jordan River parkway
  • within 100 feet of any irrigation canal
