LEHI — Tony Finau’s season on the PGA Tour continues to climb.

The West High product who lives in Lehi was selected to play in the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania two weeks ago, and he’ll get another shot at a major in July.

Finau will play in his first career British Open at Royal Troon in two weeks, going in as an alternate after shooting a two-day 147 at Oakmont and a four-day 289 at last week’s Quicken Loans National.

Finau currently ranks 37th in the FedEx Cup standings, and he’s No. 79 in the official World Golf Rankings.

Two local club pros will get a chance to play in the season’s final major, the PGA Championship, this week. Joe Summerhays of Eagle Lake Golf Course in Roy qualified by shooting 4-under-par 284 to finish tied for 10th at the PGA Professional Championship in Verona, New York.

Tommy Sharp of Golf Lab in Salt Lake City carded a 3-under-par 285 to finish 12th and also book a spot in the final major. The top 20 automatically qualified for the PGA Championship.
