THE SEDGWICK HOTEL — Sometimes a movie mashup video is so simple and elegant, it makes you angry because you didn’t think of it yourself, especially when the movies involved are two staples from your childhood.

YouTube user and children’s musician, Mike Phirman, has angered me thus after I watched a video he posted recently. It’s a flawless mashup of a scene in the Sedgewick Hotel from “Ghostbusters” with one of the final scenes on the Death Star in “Return of the Jedi.”

You guessed it, the proton stream from the proton packs of Egon, Ray and Venkman become Emperor Palpatine’s crazy Force lightning that he’s using to zap Luke’s face off (figuratively). I mean, I ain’t afraid of no ghost, but a hearty “no thank you” for Force lightning.

The scene is cut together perfectly, including a like of wryly delivered dialogue from Bill Murray that ends the 26-second video with an apt joke for the mashup.

As an extra treat, please enjoy Ray Parker Jr’s original video of the “Ghostbusters” theme song. If you’ve seen it before, it is better than you remember with inexplicable celebrity cameos. And if is this your first time watching it, you’re welcome.
