ROY — A woman surrendered to police Friday night after a SWAT standoff that lasted more than four hours, though her home went up in flames just as she was doing so, police said.

Carrie Moss, 57, made threats "with a handgun" to a family member and at least one neighbor earlier Friday, prompting someone to report her around 4:30 p.m., said Roy police officer Joshua Taylor.

Negotiators from Ogden Metro SWAT arrived at Monte Vista trailer park, 3800 S. 1900 West, "trying to … get her to come out of the trailer" after officers couldn't make contact with her, Taylor said. Police believe Moss was armed at the time and that she was the only person inside the mobile home.

Part of the trailer park was closed off because of the standoff. Moss exited the home and gave herself up around 8:45 p.m., Taylor said. She wasn't armed when she exited the house.

No shots were fired during the incident, Taylor said.

About the same time the standoff resolved, a fire ignited in Moss' mobile home, Taylor said. He didn't know the cause of the fire or how much damage was done, but said it was "fairly large."

Moss was taken to a hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, according to Taylor.

Taylor also said police plan to pursue charges against Moss. A police officer accompanied her to the hospital, he said.

The officer didn't know what precipitated the alleged threats.
