CYPRESS, Texas — Have you ever felt like you were different in some way?

Emma certainly has, as shown in this almost instantly viral video that has received over 24 million views.

Emma’s mother, Courtney Fletcher Bennett, posted the tender video on her Facebook page June 1. In the video, Emma receives an American Girl Doll, which is exciting in and of itself for many girls Emma’s age. But that's not the tear-jerking part.

What isn’t immediately obvious in the video is that Emma has a prosthetic leg. She can’t even finish reading the letter that came with her new doll before she rips back the cardboard to see that it’s true, that she now has a doll that “looks just like her.”

She is overjoyed and sobs and hugs her new doll close. If it doesn’t melt your heart, you might want to get your feelings checked by a doctor. Basically, just grab your tissues before watching.

Emma’s parents sent the doll to A Step Ahead Prosthetics, a company that has an ongoing program to fit any American Girl doll with prosthetics for girls you have lost limbs. According to their website, they custom make each doll prosthetic in their lab alongside the human prosthetics, and they do it all for free.

They are now taking donations to help with the program at http://www.onestepaheadfoundation.org/.

Yesterday's HYST?
