CLEARFIELD — A fire at a Clearfield business Saturday led to the evacuation of about 500 employees, according to North Davis Fire District.

The District was dispatched to Utility Trailer at 1111 S. 1000 West in Clearfield at about 8:11 a.m. to a report of a fire alarm, North Davis Fire District spokesman Mark Sessions said in a written release.

Sessions said upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the east side of the building and that all 500 employees of the business had been evacuated and accounted for. The evacuation lasted for more than two hours, he said.

Crews from Layton, Syracuse, Clinton and Sunset Fire Departments also responded to help fight the fire, which was put out within 10 minutes, Session said. He said damage was minimized by the building’s water suppression system.

No injuries were reported, but Sessions said one 40-foot trailer had been destroyed by the fire and another damaged from sprinkling system water. He said the damage to the trailers is estimated at about $50,000.

The cause of the fire was unknown Saturday.

According to the company's website, the building is one of two factories where refrigerated trailers are constructed in the U.S.
