SALT LAKE CITY — If you collect antlers, but don’t have time to go shed hunting, the Division of Wildlife Resources has the perfect auction for you.

DWR will be auctioning antlers and hides that have been collected over the years, many of which were seized and forfeited as the result of illegal wildlife activity, officials said. The auction will include several hundred sets of big game antlers and will be the first of its kind since 2012.

In 2014, there were 1,320 illegally taken fish and wildlife, totaling a statutory value of $563,686, DWR said. In 2015, there were 1,375 fish and wildlife illegally taken in 2015, totaling a statutory value of $737,220. By January 2015, the number of animals poached in Utah had increased by more than 30 percent over the past two years, the Associated Press reported.

The auction will be held May 24 at the Lee Kay Shooting Center at 6000 W. 2100 South. Sale items may be previewed at 8 a.m. and the sale will begin at 10 a.m.
