SALT LAKE CITY — A man who has been deported from the United States twice was arrested Thursday in Salt Lake, federal authorities announced.

Sergio Amador-Olive, 37, who also was convicted twice of sexual assault, was arrested at a Salt Lake home by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations and Fugitive Operations Team worked together to arrest Amador-Olive, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, a federal spokesman said.

Amador-Olive was convicted of unlawful sexual activity with a minor in Utah in 2003 for impregnating a 15-year-old girl. He was soon after deported to Mexico, said ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok. Amador-Olive was convicted and sentenced to the Utah State Prison in 2005 for the attempted rape of a co-worker.

Immigration officials arrested Amador-Olive again in 2010, leading to his conviction for illegally entering the U.S. following his deportation. He was deported and later that year was arrested by border patrol officers, Rusnok said. In April 2011, he was convicted a second time of illegally entering the United States and was sentenced to four years and three months in federal prison.

Amador-Olive was deported to Mexico in August 2014 after serving that sentence.

The case will be turned over to federal prosecutors in Utah for investigation of re-entering the country illegally and failing to register as a sex offender, Rusnok said.

"He is also (a) … priority for immigration enforcement," the spokesman said.
