MIDVALE — Unified Fire Authority confirmed that a body was found inside of a Midvale home after responding to a fire on the premises Sunday morning.
At approximately 8:02 a.m. Sunday, UFA, Sandy and Murray fire departments responded to a call of a fire at a home near 7200 South and 10th East in Midvale, according to Captain Dan Brown of UFA. Firefighters encountered flames flowing from the first story window and proceeded to extinguish the flames, Brown said.
After putting out the fire, crews discovered a body inside of the home. The situation is currently under investigation, according to Brown.
Neighbors in the area said that the home is currently abandoned, though Brown said he could not confirm that detail. Brown did say there was not much furniture on the premises and said neighbors claim people “come in and out a lot” from the home.
Authorities currently do not know what started the fire, but will investigate further after obtaining a warrant to search the house.
The identity of the person found in the home is currently unknown.
No other injuries were sustained while the fire was being put out.
