FARMINGTON — A man charged with murder in a fatal stabbing in Sunset last year has been ordered to stand trial.

Michael Scott Ennis, 34, was bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing Thursday. He is charged with killing 31-year-old Tyler Eastabrook in an altercation at the home of a woman they each had a child with.

Police responding to a call Sept. 15 about the confrontation found Eastabrook's body outside the fourplex at 2300 N. 250 West, saying the man died of a single stab wound.

Ennis allegedly fled the fourplex before police arrived but was arrested without incident after officers made contact with him. He was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of criminal homicide and a parole violation.

No children were home when the stabbing occurred, police said.

Leslie Liptrap, who has a child with Ennis and another with Eastabrook, said at the time that tension had surfaced when Ennis came to the home and resisted leaving. When he did leave, Eastabrook followed him out, she said.

Liptrap said she and Ennis had separated about a year earlier, and that Eastabrook moved in with her to be with his daughter a short time before he was killed.

The homicide was the first the city had seen in years, according to police.

Arraignment has been set for May 5. Ennis is charged with first-degree felony murder and is being held in the Davis County Jail without bail.
