MURRAY — In August, Rio de Janeiro welcomes the world for the Summer Olympics, with many athletes sporting Utah ties.
Golf makes its debut in the Olympic program in 2016, so KSL Golf thought it would be fun to take some Utahans with Olympic ties to re-live the event of their lives while cruising around the golf course.
First up is Missy Marlowe, who was a member of Team USA gymnastics in the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics — an experience she said she would repeat, with all the long hours and grueling training sessions included, for anything.
"I'd do it again in a heartbeat — every second of it," Marlowe said. "I'd try to be better than I was."
Marlowe won two national gymnastics titles as a member of the famed University of Utah gymnastics team in 1990 and 1992. A four-time All-America for the Utes during her collegiate career, Marlowe showed off her golf game during a round at Mick Riley golf course in Murray.
Though she didn't win a gold medal and hold a spot on the medal stand, Marlowe puts pride in simply representing her country.
"It's something I put a lot of pride in," she said. "I don't talk about it a lot — I will if people ask me — but it's something I'm very, very proud of."
