MURRAY — A Flemish giant rabbit stolen from Wheeler Historic Farm earlier this week is back home.

“Ms. Dolly Parton has been returned," Raegan Scharman, the farm's program coordinator, happily announced Sunday morning.

Dolly was taken from her cage earlier this week, sparking a police investigation. Scharman said a farmer spotted her Sunday morning, happily hopping around in her cage.

“She looks good,” Sharman said. “She was hopping around her upstairs apartment and kinda getting back into … ‘Ah, my space. This is good.’”

Farm officials weren't sure when or how Dolly was returned, but they're grateful to have her back and in good health.

“Whoever had her, we want to thank them for taking good care of her while they had her,” Scharman said.

Wheeler farm officials believe the possibly pregnant bunny was taken Wednesday, sometime between about 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Evidence showed someone had broken the locks to get her out.

Sharman said police and the farm received a few tips of “bunny sightings” over the past few days, but nothing substantial. No word Sunday on whether the investigation to find the thieves would continue.
