CUTTING ROOM FLOOR — Not every show finds favor in the hearts of both its audience and the station executives who ultimately have the power to pull the plug.

Often, the shows that don't last are the ones that are ahead of their time, and eventually find a following in the years following their demise. Below are some of the best that never got more than two seasons.

1 Season Wonders

'Firefly'

6 TV shows cancelled too soon

Any good geek worth their salt will recommend this intensely clever show set in the future where everyone speaks English but swears in Chinese, and travels through space to various interesting planets populated by witty fast talkers. But what they might forget to tell you is that this Joss Whedon show has some of the most complicated, intriguing characters in sci-fi. Also: it's funny.

Where to watch: Netflix

'Freaks and Geeks'

If there was ever a perfect show about how it feels to be an average suburban teenager, it was "Freaks and Geeks." Regardless of when you grew up, the themes of feeling out of place and trying to figure out what makes you you will resonate through the early 80's style and music. Every scene is fun, exploring family dynamics and friend groups in an authentic, bittersweet fashion.

Where to watch: Netflix 'Bunheads'

Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore on "Gilmore Girls") shows her Broadway chops as the quirky dance teacher mother-in-law. Sutton Foster, also a dancer, is a girl who can't quite get it together, talking fast about nothing. Along with the younger cast, and a whole slew of goofballs and weirdos in the town (which is called Paradise), there's plenty of charm to be had.

Gone Too Soon

'Pushing Daisies'

6 TV shows cancelled too soon

Quirk! Camp! Incredible set design and costumes! "Pushing Daisies" was maybe just a little too weird for its time, but nobody who has seen the series can deny that it is as sweet as pie. The story of a boy who discovers he can bring things back from the dead — if he only touches them once — and the girl (who used to be dead) that he loves (but can't touch). Come to think of it, it is pretty weird. Just trust us on this one.

Where to watch: This one's not streaming, so hit your local library for a copy of the DVDs!

'Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23'

Krysten Ritter in the role she was born to play, James Van Der Beek as "himself," and Dreama Walker as the glue trying to hold the crazy together — and that's not even the best of the zany nonsense that is "Don't Trust the B." With subplots about a sample sale, an old camp friend who is as weird as they come and constant talk of a "Dawson's Creek" reunion, it's delightful from start to finish.

Where to watch: Netflix

'The Carrie Diaries'

6 TV shows cancelled too soon

You don't have to like, be familiar with, or care one bit about "Sex and the City" to love this Skipper Barbie prequel. The flashy clothes and great throwback music make it fun to watch and fun to hear, while the cast of surprisingly complex characters will remind you that we're all teenagers at heart. Some of Carrie's diary voiceovers might even hit home a little too hard.
