VERNAL — A woman was recently arrested after residents of a Vernal neighborhood reported that she was waving an ax in the air and destroying property, police said Tuesday.

Natasha Billsie, a 32-year-old Blanding resident, was dragging an ax on the ground while walking down a road in the area of 1220 South and 500 East in Vernal when law enforcement officers located her Saturday, according to the Uintah County Sheriff's Office.

"Witnesses reported seeing Billsie smash the back window out of a vehicle," a statement from the sheriff's office reads. "Another individual reported that the interior and exterior of his shed had been damaged behind his home and his ax was missing. Many of Billsie's personal effects were found near the damaged shed."

A Uintah county deputy and Naples police officer convinced Billsie to drop the ax when they arrived, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators said she resisted arrest and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant.

Billsie was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, resisting an officer, providing false information, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
