Nomination letter sent in by Maria Torres:

She has lived and served in this community for most of her 92 years. She is active and serves by promoting music in ways that unite us as a community. She invites anyone to come and learn beautiful music (no matter if you have "talent" or not). She even has invited some of the immigrants who are just learning English to be in the choir. Children as young as eight years old sing in the choir. She has been doing the Messiah for 31 years and is still going strong. We love her, and Christmas would not be the same without her and her enthusiasm for Christmas and Handel's Messiah.

Helene works with the Daughter's of Utah Pioneer's. She has worked with Taylorsville City to promote arts and music. She currently volunteers her time with the Taylorsville Senior Citizens Center directing a choir there as well.
