LOGAN — Police are trying to identify two women who stole thousands of dollars worth of baby formula from Cache Valley stores.
Surveillance cameras inside Lee's Marketplace, 555 E. 1400 North, caught the thieves in the act just a few weeks ago. Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said the pair also hit three other stores, getting away with $3,700 in formula by hiding it in their clothing.
"Our understanding is that they are utilizing the black market somehow, to sell this stuff," Hooley said. "We don't know who they're selling it to or for what purpose, but it is something that is happening apparently nationwide."
Hooley said similar thefts were reported in Salt Lake City the day before those in Logan occurred, and more were reported in Idaho Falls the day after.
The pair was seen driving a white Dodge Caravan. Investigators do not think they live in Utah, but anyone with information on their identity is asked to call the Logan Police Department at 435-753-7555.
