SANDY — Real Salt Lake's first formal match of 2015 was finalized Wednesday.

The MLS side will face Mexico's UANL Tigres in a CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. MST. The return leg will see Tigres travel to Rio Tinto Stadium on March 2 for an 8 p.m. MST kickoff.

RSL advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-0-1 group stage record last year, earning the No. 3 overall seed among the eight quarterfinalists in its second foray to the Champions League quarterfinals.

The last time RSL advanced as far in the competition, they made a run to the Champions League final before falling to Monterrey in the 2010-11 edition of the annual regional competition.

RSL also announced earlier this week that the club has exercised contract options on seven players, putting the club's current roster at 21 players. The options picked up include third-string goalkeeper Lalo Fernandez, defenders Abdoulie Mansally and Boyd Okwuonu, midfielders Luke Mulholland and John Stertzer and forwards Olmes Garcia and Devon Sandoval.

The club already held rights to goalkeepers Nick Rimando and Jeff Attinella; defenders Tony Beltran, Justen Glad and Aaron Maund; midfielders Kyle Beckerman, Sebastian Saucedo and Fito Ovalle; and forwards Juan Manuel Martinez, Joao Plata, Sebastian Jaime and Jordan Allen. They also retained the rights to midfielder Javier Morales and defender Jamison Olave after each signed a new contract in recent weeks.

The players whose options were not exercised by the club include rookie defender and Highland High graduate Phanuel Kavita, defender Demar Phillips, defender Elias Vasquez and midfielder Pecka.

Chris Schuler, Luis Gil and Luis Silva are currently out of contract for the 2016 season. RSL has until Dec. 10 to re-sign any players whose options were not exercised before they become eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Draft next month.
