SALT LAKE CITY — Utah concluded its regular season with a 20-14 victory over Colorado Saturday, giving the Utes a boost in the national rankings.

Utah moved up to No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and to No. 20 in the Amway USA Today Coaches Poll. Utah dropped out of the AP rankings last week for the first time this season, but was considered the No. 26 team when figuring in other teams receiving votes. Utah, though, did stay in the Top 25 in the Coaches Poll at No. 25 last week.

The AP Poll and Coaches Poll have little relevance in the college football landscape at this point in the season, but are a look into how national media members and college football coaches view the state of each program. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham refers to these arbitrary polls as the "window-dressing" rankings that have little relevance once the College Football Playoff rankings are released. As such, Utah remains at No. 23 in the College Football Playoff rankings ahead of the new rankings that will be released Tuesday.

Utah is one of four teams from the Pac-12 ranked in the AP poll Sunday, with Stanford moving up to No. 7 after its hard-fought victory over Notre Dame Saturday. The Cardinal are followed by Oregon at No. 15, Utah, and USC at No. 24.

At the top of the rankings in the AP Poll is No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Iowa and No. 5 Michigan State.

Utah now awaits its bowl destination and opponent, which will be released sometime Sunday, Dec. 6 after the College Football Playoff committee selects the four teams included in the playoffs and the team's represented in the New Year's Six bowl games. Utah is in consideration for at least five different bowl games.
