PROVO, Utah (AP) — Nick Emery had 18 points and seven assists and BYU held off Mississippi Valley State 75-68 Wednesday night.

Kyle Davis added 13 points and seven rebounds, Corbin Kaufusi had 12 points and Kyle Collinsworth 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Cougars (3-1), who had a 17-point lead early in the game but couldn't put away Mississippi Valley (0-5).

Damian Young made 9 of 12 shots, including 6-of-8 3s, to lead the Delta Devils with 24 points. Latrell Love added 13 points and Michael Matlock had 10 rebounds.

The Cougars hit 9 of their first 13 shots and led 22-5 at 13:48 after an Emery 3. The Delta Devils missed five straight during the 12-0 BYU run.

Spanning the half, when the Cougars had a 44-32 point lead, BYU made four-straight baskets but had two turnovers while MVSU Young knocked down four-straight 3's.
