OGDEN — Haiden Morgan has spent most of his short life in a Miami hospital, but he finally arrived in Utah Saturday night.

Haiden was born three months early while his family was on a 7-day cruise. With a due date of Dec. 19, Haiden only weighed 1 pound when he was born, and doctors didn't know if he would survive.

He spent several days in a hospital in Puerto Rico, then he was flown to a Miami hospital where he's since gained a few pounds and defied the odds.

"He started taking bottles a number of weeks ago and his breathing has been on very low settings, so he's surpassed their expectations a long time ago," Haiden's mother, Emily Morgan said.

However, Haiden still had to stay in the hospital for several months and his father, Chase Morgan, had to go back to Utah for work while his wife stayed in Florida with the baby.

The couple also has a 3-year-old daughter named Chloe. After hearing the family's story, AirMed stepped in to help.

"We had just prayed and asked for some kind of miracle to happen, and they are our answer to a miracle," Emily Morgan said.

AirMed said cross-country transports like this are rare, but it's the only program in the state that can do it. Saturday morning, a crew of five made sure Haiden made it safely back home.

Now Haiden and his family are all together again, just in time for the holidays.

"Even a week ago, we weren't sure if we were all going to be together," Chase Morgan said.

"To bring our family home for the holidays, it will be something we'll never be able to repay them for," Emily Morgan said.

Emily Morgan said the main concern right now is the change in elevation so Haiden will stay at McKay-Dee Hospital where they will try to lower his oxygen levels. She doesn't know how long Haiden will stay there, but she hopes he'll be home for Christmas.
