DALLAS — Former Utah State running back Robert Turbin was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, barely a week after the former Aggie standout was waived by Cleveland.
The Cowboys, who also cut former Seahawks running back Christine Michael early Wednesday morning, have been looking for a spark on offense throughout the season. Quarterback Tony Romo is reportedly set to return after missing seven games with a broken collarbone.
Turbin is the Cowboys' fifth running back who could see significant carries this season. The 25-year-old played just three games with the Browns in 2015, totaling 60 yards on 18 carries after being released by Seattle at the start of the year.
The Browns acquired Turbin off waivers after the final preseason game, but he didn't make his debut until week six while struggling with an ankle injury. Cleveland released Turbin on Nov. 10, and quickly promoted offensive lineman Darrian Miller from the practice squad to fill the open spot on the roster.
