ATLANTA (CNN) — Oops. Two tightly controlled official Russian TV stations have accidentally broadcast classified military information for all to see, the Russian news agency Tass reported.
"Certain secrets indeed were caught on camera; that is why later they were deleted," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters Wednesday, according to Tass.
"We are hopeful it will not happen again," Peskov said.
The spokesman said he did not know about any steps taken to punish those responsible. But he added, "In the future, we will certainly take preventive measures not to let it happen again," he said.
The footage was taken at a meeting on defense issues chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tass reported.
