LOGAN — Officials destroyed a suspicious laptop Monday after a Cache Valley Transit District employee found a note implying a threat with it.

According to Cache County Sheriff's Office Lt. Mike Peterson, a bus driver found the laptop at a bus stop in Hyrum early this morning and brought it to the lost and found at the Intermodal Transit Center.

An employee later opened the laptop to try to find contact information for the owner and instead found a note that read "boom boom boom."

The sheriff's office responded just before 11 a.m. and evacuated the building, worked with the transit district operators to reroute the busses and set up a small perimeter around the building.

Trained bomb technicians responded and determined if it was an explosive device it would likely only damage the interior of the building, so police did not extend the perimeter around the building.

According to Cache Valley Transit District, the Intermodal Transit Center closed for security reasons, but the threat was cleared without any damage or injury.

Peterson said they don't get suspicious packages too often, but they do have the resources to respond to them.

Buses are now running normally and roads were opened around 12:40 p.m.
