PROVO — After seeing the pain her sister went through when she lost a child, a Provo singer held a memorial event and created a music video as a tribute to parents who have lost children.

Local singer Sarah Bertola said her sister, Natalie Mouritsen, gave birth to her first baby in February 2015. However, the infant had a chromosomal defect and died a week later. Bertola saw the pain her sister and her family went through and was inspired to use her musical talents to help ease her sister's suffering.

Bertola wrote a song, "Until Heaven," that she would sing to her niece, Margot, in the week before she died. She decided to create a music video in memory of Margot and other children who have died.

She held a memorial event Friday, Oct. 9, so parents who have lost children could gather and find support. Around 60 people attended and she highlighted four participating families in the music video with her song.

"They don't get remembered as often as I feel like they should," Bertola said. "Their children's lives were not for nothing. People were affected by them and have been changed by them and they are going to be remembered."
