SALT LAKE CITY — Fear Factory is among 10 haunted attractions across the nation the Travel Channel recognized to be this year's best.

According to Travel Channel, its editors asked a panel of experts to assist in determining these top attractions.

The Travel Channel highlighted Fear Factory for having a terrifying history, as it was previously a cement factory constructed in the late 1800s.

The haunted house sits on two-and-a-half acres at 666 W. 800 South in Salt Lake City, and has "a post-apocalyptic setting with underground tunnels, towers, mazes and two of the largest indoor slides in North America," according to Travel Channel.

Paranormal investigators frequent the site due to the rumors that the ghosts of former workers of the cement factory — who were electrocuted, dismembered, beheaded and burned — currently haunt it.

"Fear Factory is honored to be listed in the ranks of other Halloween attractions such as Netherworld and The Darkness, which are now national travel destinations," Fear Factory owner Rob Dunfield said in a statement.

The [Travel Channel website](http://www.travelchannel.com/interests/travels-best/articles/travels-best-halloween-attractions-2015) recommends the controlled free-fall from the factory's tower or the "Last Ride" zip line for those looking for extreme thrills.

Utah is home to other attractions that have gained national attention, such as the 25-year-old Nightmare on 13th.

Nightmare on 13th was recognized as one of USA Today's spookiest haunted houses and as one of Travel Channel's Horrifying Haunted Houses.
