HURRICANE, Washington County — Police arrested a Hurricane man Tuesday in the kidnapping and sexual abuse of a developmentally disabled woman.

Police say the woman was taken from her neighborhood and sexually assaulted on Sept. 16.

The investigation led them to Cherokee Miles Williams, police said.

St. George police said earlier that the man in the case was the woman's caretaker, and the department had posted a photo from security cameras to the department Facebook page asking for the public's help identifying him.

Hurricane police detained Williams, executed a search warrant for his residence, arrested him and booked him into Purgatory Correctional Facility for investigation of forcible sexual abuse, forcible sodomy and aggravated kidnapping.

Police say tips from social media were instrumental in the investigation.
