PROVO — The UConn Huskies traveled 2,000 miles to take on the BYU Cougars and according to the stats you'd think BYU won by about 70 points, but the game was much closer than Cougar fans would have liked.

On the very first drive for BYU QB Tanner Mangum has a bad handoff exchange with RB Francis Bernard resulting in a fumble. BYU bounced back quick and got into the end zone in the first quarter, but those were the only points they'd get for quite some time.

BYU was amassing yards like crazy, but mistakes kept them out of the end zone and outside the uprights.

Mangum had a solid start, but soon the production and points stopped. Mangum got things back on track in the second half and particularly the fourth quarter.

Another player with a big night and a bit of a coming out party is running back Francis Bernard.

Bernard ended the night with 69 yards on 11 carries and a TD.

Algie Brown was also back in action Friday night and led BYU with 95 yards on the ground.

On the defensive side the Cougars shut down the Huskies for the most part and Bronson Kaufusi had a great night pressuring the QB and coming up with a sack.

All in all the game was a little disappointing, but at the end of the day BYU acme up big in the fourth and won decisively.
