LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a boater who was reported missing after two vessels collided off the coast of Santa Catalina Island, killing one person and injuring three others.

The search was suspended Sunday evening, about 18 hours after a dinghy and a boat collided.

The Coast Guard said the injured were airlifted by helicopter to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. One person had a head injury and the others had minor wounds.

The dead person has not been identified by Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Coast Guard and county officials provided no other details about the collision that occurred roughly a quarter mile from Casino Point, on the island that is a popular getaway just over 20 miles from the county mainland.
