SOUTH JORDAN — Bingham and Nevada's Bishop Gorman meet again Friday in South Jordan, with the Miners hoping to avenge one of two losses from last season against the No. 1-ranked team in the country.

The Gaels beat Bingham in overtime last year in Las Vegas, and ever since that loss, the Miners have been looking forward to seeking revenge.

"It's a big week," Bingham defensive end Langi Tuifua said. "It's probably going to be the biggest game that I've personally ever been in."

The excitement in South Jordan for the return match is palpable, added Bingham linebacker Parker Workman.

"I'm really excited. I know for the team, this is a really big game. Statewide, it's a big game," he said. "The whole school is buzzing. The state is buzzing. It's going to be a good game."

The Miners (2-0) jumped out to a 14-13 lead at halftime in Las Vegas, but the Gaels (1-0) kept Bingham out of the end zone through the second half to make up the difference and win on a field goal in the first overtime period for a 23-20 victory.

That would go on to be Bingham's only regular-season loss as the Miners rolled to their second-straight Class 5A state championship. Bingham also fell to Florida power Booker T. Washington in a postseason bowl game.

So excuse the returning Miners if they are motivated.

"A lot of us outplayed them in last year's game," Tuifua said. "But we learned a lot about what we did. This is our time to come back."
