MOAB — Two Duchesne County men died early Sunday morning after rolling a Jeep on I-70 near Moab, authorities said.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, a Jeep with a soft top was traveling eastbound on I-70 at approximately 4:00 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle traveled into the median and then over-corrected to the right. The Jeep went off the roadway after overcorrecting, went down an embankment and rolled multiple times.
The driver was identified as Jason Cammans, 35, from Bluebell, Utah. The passenger was Rodney Higbee, 34, from Mt. Emmons, Utah. Both men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, but died at the scene due to their injuries, UHP said.
It is unclear at this point what caused the vehicle to drift and then overcorrect.
Cammans and Higbee were the only two people occupying the Jeep. No other vehicles were involved.
