DUNEDIN, Florida — An extremely talented high school swimmer excels in her sport, and she does it all with one leg.

After sustaining a blood infection from the chicken pox as a toddler, Christian Lang's leg had to be amputated. Her mother, Shannon Waites, calls her daughter her miracle baby, according to WTSP-TV.

"Is it hard? Swimming's a hard sport," Lang told WTSP-TV. "I don't know it any other way, I've never swam with two legs, so I don't know if it's hard with one leg compared to two legs. So is it hard? Yes. But is it hard because I have one leg? I don't know."

Lang's coach sometimes has to remind officials she is an amputee when they try to disqualify her from the butterfly and breaststroke.

Lang broke or set records in four different events at YMCA national meets this summer and hopes to compete in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Japan.
