KEARNS — Police are looking for two unidentified teenage boys who allegedly left a box at Oquirrh Hills Elementary School and wrote messages on it claiming an explosive device was inside.

The school was evacuated for part of Wednesday afternoon after a parent alerted officials about the box at the building's front entrance. The Unified Fire Authority responded with a bomb unit, which determined the box wasn't a threat.

Granite School District police released surveillance video showing two people who appear to be teenage boys dropping off a box. One of the boys can be seen wearing black shoes, blue jeans, and a black hoodie. The other boy, who was carrying the cardboard box, was wearing lighter shoes, with dark blue or black jeans, and a gray hoodie. Both boys were also wearing backpacks.

District police are seeking the unidentified boys for investigation of making a threat of terrorism and disrupting a school. About 30 emergency workers from multiple agencies were sent to handle the threat and evacuation, according to the school district.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Granite School District police at 801-481-7122.
