HOLLADAY — Police arrested an alleged serial vehicle burglar Monday, and they are looking for victims who have not yet reported linked cases.

Around 9 a.m., a Unified Police Department officer was made aware of a man who was passed out in the driver's seat of a running car in a neighborhood. When the officer approached him, the driver was nervous and evasive while answering questions, according to the UPD.

When the driver was asked to get out of the car it was clear he was lying about his name, police said. The driver fled the scene on foot as the police officer was trying to investigate.

Police said the car was stolen Sunday from Cottonwood Heights. Evidence inside the car linked the driver to more than a dozen vehicle burglaries that occurred early Monday in Holladay and Cottonwood Heights. Police also found a wallet belonging to a man named Casey Fallon.

Some of the vehicle burglaries had not been reported, but some of the property belonging to the owners of the vehicles was returned to them.

Around 1 p.m., a police officer in Holladay detained a suspicious male walking in the area of a vehicle burglary the officer was responding to at the time. The owner of the car had confronted the man trying to steal it.

Police identified the man as Casey Fallon. Fallon told UPD and Cottonwood Heights police detectives he stole a Honda CRV Sunday and "had broken into dozens of vehicles looking for money to support his drug habit since stealing the car," police said.

Police found narcotics and paraphernalia on Fallon, who was on parole at the time, police said.

Fallon was booked into jail in connection with charges related to these events and could face more charges in the next few days, police said.

Anyone whose car may have been burglarized between Aug. 2-3 in Holladay or Cottonwood Heights and has yet to report it is asked to call UPD at 801-743-7000. UPD added it may have property in evidence. Witnesses are also asked to call.
