KEARNS — Police identified the man who died after crashing into a home in Kearns Saturday night.

Unified police said that Eric Douglas Forney, 34, died after crashing a white SUV into a home at 5854 S. 4480 West.

According to police, before crashing into the home, Forney hit a blue pickup truck head-on. The female occupant of the truck said Forney smelled of alcohol and asked her boyfriend, the truck's driver, not to call police because of previous DUI incidents.

The couple followed Forney and said he hit poles and a parked car before ultimately crashing into a house "full throttle" and dying, according to the homeowner, Earlene Seipel.

Nobody in the home was injured and Seipel and her husband were able to stay in the home despite damage.

Police are investigating whether or not alcohol was involved.
