SEATTLE — Dream of a world where you never have to conquer the aisles of the grocery store ever again. It's a beautiful thought, no?

While that world may not be here quite yet, Amazon is taking us a step closer to that reality with its push-to-order Dash Buttons, available to Prime members.

So what exactly is a Dash Button, you might ask? At $5 a pop, consumers can place the buttons in areas around their home where they store common household products like paper towels, laundry detergent, diapers and even macaroni and cheese. When you use that last roll of toilet paper, simply press your Dash Button and voila — you've placed an order for more toilet paper without even breaking a sweat.

Amazon Dash Buttons connect to your Wi-Fi and once you've placed an order, you'll get an alert sent to your phone in case you decide to cancel. Orders usually show up on your doorstep the next day.

The Dash Buttons are a follow-up to the Dash Wands, which allow consumers to scan household items and groceries to be delivered through Amazon Fresh the next day.

Currently, there are only Dash Buttons available for 18 products from brands like L'Oreal, Gillette, Gerber, Huggies, Clorox, Bounty, Glad and even Gatorate. Amazon expects the buttons to sell out fast and they're only available on "limited release."
