SALT LAKE CITY — Two Salt Lake men accused of leading police on a chase after robbing a taco stand last week now face criminal charges.

Kenny Blair Jauregui, 28, who goes by the moniker "Insane," and David Arambula, 21, were charged Monday in 3rd District Court with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and fleeing from police, a third-degree felony.

Prosecutors said the two men wore black masks and black clothing when they approached a taco stand at 950 N. 900 West on July 21, pointed a handgun at the woman working and asked, "Where's the money?" according to charging documents.

After receiving about $350, police said the men drove off in an SUV. Officers spotted the vehicle and chased it for about 10 minutes, with speeds reaching up to 50 mph, before the SUV hit a curb while making a sharp turn near 600 S. Navajo St. and popped two tires, according to police.

Arambula was arrested immediately. Jauregui, the driver, was arrested after he ran behind a nearby house and officers chased after him. He claimed the gun used in the robbery wasn't a "real gun," the charges state.

After he was caught, Jauregui told officers, "I am a runner, so I was not going to stop for police," according to the charges.

In 2011, Jauregui was convicted of fleeing from police and sentenced to up to five years in the Utah State Prison, according to court records.
