SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz didn't make the NBA Finals this year, but one member of the organization can still bring home a championship.
Jazz Bear has been named one of eight finalists for the Mascot Insider 2015 Mascot of the Year Award.
Each computer can vote once per day on the fan ballot on mascotinsider.com. Voting runs through July 27 at 11:59 EDT.
Jazz Bear booked his spot in the finals after beating out the rest of the NBA mascots in the first round. The Kansas City Royals' Sluggerr represents Major League Baseball, FC Dallas' Texas Hooper is the finalist from Major League Soccer, the NFL is represented by the Dallas Cowboys' Rowdy, the Arizona Coyotes' Howler represents the NHL, Tux the Penguin from Wilkes-Barre represents minor league hockey, Willie Wildcat from Kansas State is the college representative, and Utah's Felix Falcon of the Utah Falconz won from the Independent Women's Football League.
As of early Saturday evening, Jazz Bear had turned a nearly 2,000-vote deficit to Rowdy into an advantage of 16,464 votes to 13,819. Willie Wildcat is a distant third with 4,214 votes.
In other words, it's a two-horse … or two-mascot race.
Vote for your favorite mascot in the link below, even if it's not Jazz Bear — as long as you don't vote for Rowdy. In fact, as proud Utahans, we'll just say: vote for the Bear, or Felix.
