HOLLYWOOD — Disney's magic will once again come to life when its most recently announced live action film, "The Sword in the Stone," hits theaters.

This 1963 animated classic was the last film released before Walt Disney's death and will be brought to the big screen once more by Brigham Taylor ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and Bryan Cogman ("Game of Thrones"), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This tale is one of many live-action films Disney is planning to produce in the coming years.

Earlier this year, I offered our readers a short list of live-action films that are in the works and John Clyde offered a list of those that should be in the works, including "The Sword in the Stone."

From '90s classics, such as "Aladdin" to the reimaginations of "Pinocchio" and "Fantasia," Disney has big plans for its viewers. Read the following for a list of upcoming live-action films.

"Aladdin"

Titled "Genies," Disney is taking a new twist on the beloved original, this time focusing on the creature you ain't never had a friend like. This live-action prequel will tell how The Genie came to be trapped inside his lamp and will be written by Damian Shannon ("Friday the 13th") and Mark Swift ("Friday the 13th"), according to The Hollywood Reporter. After Disney recreates this film, they plan to remake a live-action version of "Aladdin."

"Pinocchio"

Our favorite big-nosed liar is returning to the big screen in Disney's upcoming "Pinocchio." Peter Hedges ("Dan in Real Life") will write the script, which will be "loosely based on the original," according to Deadline.

"Fantasia"

"Night on Bald Mountain," one of the eight musical segments featured in the 1940 film "Fantasia," will be reimagined into a live-action film by Matt Sazama ("Dracula Untold") and Burk Sharpless ("Dracula Untold"). "Night on Bald Mountain" was originally about "a dark winged creature who raised spirits from the dead," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Pete's Dragon"

Director David Lowery will bring Disney's friendliest dragon to life in its remake of "Pete's Dragon." Slated to hit theaters in August next year, "Pete's Dragon" will feature Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Robert Redford ("Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) and Craig Hall ("King Kong") among others.

"Tink"

Reese Witherspoon will help produce and star in this film about the feisty fairy whose loyalties lie with Peter Pan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this live-action film will give more insight into the pixie's character. Victoria Strouse ("Finding Dory") is set to write the script, while Bruna Papandrea ("Warm Bodies") will co-produce.

"The Rescue Rangers"

David Hoberman ("The Proposal") and Todd Lieberman ("The Proposal") will produce this live-action film featuring the Rescue Rangers and how their team of detectives and crime fighters got started, according to Variety.

"Prince Charming"

He doesn't say much in Disney's original animated "Cinderella," but we know he's charming. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Young will be the executive producer for this film, which follows a live-action version of "Cinderella" released earlier this year.

"Winnie the Pooh"

With a donkey named Eeyore as his friend and Kanga and little Roo, Winnie the Pooh will hit the big screen again, but this time, his friend Christopher Robin is the focus and he is all grown up. This "Winnie The Pooh" remake will be written by Alex Ross Perry, according to Variety.
