LOGAN — Utah State nose guard Travis Seefeldt was released from the hospital late Monday night, becoming the fifth and final Aggie student-athlete sent home following a June 26 car accident in Trenton, Cache County, Utah State announced Tuesday.

Seefeldt, a senior who is projected to start this fall, was the driver of an SUV that was struck by an oncoming semitrailer while driving four other Aggie athletes from nearby Newton Dam Reservoir. Teammates Edmund Faimalo, John Taylor and Adewale Adeoye were released within a few days after sustaining injuries that were not life-threatening.

Former softball player Sarah Vasquez was released July 4 after several surgeries. Seefeldt and Vasquez, who police said was sitting in the front seat of the SUV, sustained serious injuries but were listed in stable condition the day after the accident.

The semitrailer carrying 52,000 pounds of milk attempted to swerve around Seefeldt's SUV that was making a right turn at a stop that the driver believed to be a four-way stop. The semitrailer, however, struck the SUV on the driver’s side and pushed it 75 yards into a nearby yard, according to a police report.

The five student-athletes were not wearing a seat belts, according to police. The 46-year-old driver of the semitrailer was not transported, nor was his 11-year-old son, who was a passenger.
