LOGAN — A Logan couple was killed in a crash that threw them and their 1-year-old daughter from their car Sunday. None of them were wearing seat belts.

Richard Beaumont, 38, and Dawha Loughney, 20, of Logan, and their daughter were travelling east on I-80 near Wells, Nevada, about 1:10 a.m. when their Ford Explorer hit the left guard rail, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jim Stewart reported.

The vehicle veered right across both lanes before Beaumont, who was driving, over-corrected back to the left and the Explorer rolled, Stewart said. Beaumont and Loughney, who was in the front passenger seat, were both thrown from the vehicle and killed.

The couple's 1-year-old daughter was also thrown from the vehicle but was physically unharmed, Stewart said. Investigators were unsure Monday whether the girl had been sitting in a parent's lap or the child safety seat, which was not secured and had tumbled through the back seat when the Explorer rolled.

"She wasn't hurt. It's unbelievable," Stewart said.

The girl was released to the Division of Child and Family Services.
