PROVO — BYU freshman Nick Emery will be out for 6-8 weeks with a foot injury, likely ending his chance to be part of the Cougars' annual preseason international tour this summer.

The 2013 Lone Peak High graduate suffered a left-heel laceration in a non-basketball related activity last week, a setback that will likely mean he won't be available for the Cougars' annual international trip this August to Spain.

The news was first reported by KSL NewsRadio reporter and BYU basketball play-by-play broadcaster Greg Wrubell.

The freshman guard tried to keep it positive on his Twitter page.

Emery graduated from Lone Peak after a standout career that included three-straight Class 5A state titles with the Knights. He averaged 17.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game as a senior in earning Gatorade Utah player of the year and Deseret News Mr. Basketball honors before serving a two-year LDS church mission in Germany. ![](http://beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif?cid=298373&pid=4)
